I visited the Saguna Baug at Neral Sunday with my family . It’s a place known for Organic Farming, horticulture, floriculture with a wonderful river which is a swimmer’s delight! You all must have heard about camel ride, horse ride but here they have a BUFFALO ride!! Saguna Baug has a lovely green environment with unique trees and fruits.
Saguna Baug, also known as NISARGA NIKETAN is owned and managed by the BHADSAVLE’S. It is basically a farm measuring 55 acres of land where nature is at its pristine best. It is a retreat not far from Mumbai city wherein they have built a couple of cottages and a pond house for lodging. One can even go for a full day picnic in open air.
The enterprising BHADSAVLE’S have various activities like manufacture of furniture with bamboo grown in the farm, a full-fledged dairy for their daily requirement of milk and milk products, an open community kitchen equipped with GOBAR GAS plant and a unit wherein cardboard is manufactured with recycled garbage. FARMING, ACQUA CULTURE and HORTICULTURE activities are also their forte.

Rohu (Also known as ‘Labia’), Prawns, Cyprenus and Carla are few major carps available here. Again, this ponds are among few fresh water ponds near Mumbai having Big Prawns available.

A fresh water flowing river can make your picnic day which is very safe to swim and someone is there to take care of you and watch. This wonderful Ulhas river flows through farm location and is pollution free, clean and safe to enjoy, Hardly any place within city boundaries where you can enjoy natural bath like this.

Saguna baug at Neral is the only location gives this antique buffalo ride inside pond, a sweet little fun to experience one have ever thought of is what is a specialty of this farm.

Cautions During Picnic
- Alcoholic Drinks are not allowed.
- Carry Some Mosquito and Insect repellents, even if they provide coils.
- Take care of your belonging as it is all on your own risk.
- First Aid Box is an ideal to carry for such farm locations.
